Fire
Agate is thought to have been discovered Fire agate is a magical and brilliant colored gem that is found only in a few states in northern Mexico (Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Chihuahua) and in the state of Arizona in the United States. Fire agate or 'agata de fuego' as it is called in Spanish is commonly found in bright golden colors of fire, with more rare multicolored fire and a variety of fire configurations of different size fire bubbles in a chalcedony quartz mixture that varies from brown, to clear, to the much sought after black or 'negrita' color. This website was created with the help of a couple local miners and is dedicated to all of the Calvillo miners 'mineros' who spend their lives climbing up into the Sierra Mountain range and digging away at a living that just barely feeds their families. But, the chance of finding a true 'imperial' quality fire agate gem that can bring them thousands of pesos (if cut and polished correctly) is forever in the back of their minds, each and every day. We help to sell stones for some of these brave and hardworking men, and have become good friends with a couple of them over the past few years. It has been a great pleasure and the friendships are for a lifetime... Here is to our amigos! ¡SALUDOS! |

The
information provided in this website is to help our miner friends
and their families
who have been devastated over the years by shady deals with foreigners,
as well as with unscrupulous Mexican Nationals, including the Mexican
government who's inability to protect the miners; who for generations
have owned and run these mines that are considered by some to be
as rich as the diamond mines in Africa. |
